The 11-page Design & Engineering Portfolio is examined to assess car design and use of CAD/CAM technologies, plus quality of manufacture of both race cars.
Team preparation
Bring a laptop ready to demonstrate CAD/CAM work. The Design & Engineering judges do not see the pit display. Read the scorecard carefully — content related to CAM/CNC manufacturing MUST be included.
Who attends
Team manager and team design/manufacturing engineers, as a minimum.
Process
Judges review the portfolio in a 'closed to teams' session before scheduled judging. The judging interview is an informal session focused on overall engineering and design — judges ask teams to demonstrate CAD/CAM work. Quality of car manufacture/assembly is judged in a separate closed session.
Portfolio
A3 (or equivalent) · 11 pages maximum (1-page front cover + 10 pages of content)
Judges only review the first 11 pages if the limit is exceeded.
